The Herefish score is used to help you quickly identify the most engaged contacts in your ATS. It is calculated based on how much they’ve interacted with your messages and website. Contacts who have done very little will have a low score and those who have done more will be higher. If they’ve opened emails they get a few points, if they have clicked they get more and viewing jobs or buying signals are even higher.

The full detail with examples is below, but in general, if they are over 75, they are engaged!

The weights of each action are a percentage increase to their score. The exact formula is more complicated than simply multiplying an existing score by a percentage, but the percentages listed below show how much impact one action has compared to another. 

  • Contacts start with a score of 50 if they have a note within the last 6 months. If it has been longer than that, it starts at 40.
  • Opening a message: 20%
  • Clicking a message: 20%
  • Viewing a page (not a job): 15%
  • Viewing a job: 30%
  • Applying to a job: 75%
  • Viewing an “Action” page: 30% (client contacts only)
  • Viewing an “Interest page: 75% (client contacts only)
  • Opting out: Score changes to a 2
  • Bounce: Score changes to a 1
  • 150 days without a note: - 20% 

Examples:

A candidate you haven’t spoken to in a year who is very likely a job seeker – They get your email and look at 2 jobs

  • They open your email - Score is now 52
  • Clicks on the email - Score is now 62
  • Views a Job - Score is now 73
  • Views a second Job - Score is now 81

A candidate who starts the apply process -They get your email and start to apply

  • They open your email - Score is now 60
  • Click on the email - Score is now 68
  • View a Job - Score is now 78
  • Apply to the Job - Score is now 95

A candidate who reads an article – They get your email and read one of the articles, and then are inactive for 6 months

  • They open your email - Score is now 60
  • Click on the email - Score is now 68
  • View an article - Score is now 72
  • Inactive for 150 days - Score is now 66

An old contact you haven’t talked to in over a year clicks the “Contact Us” button in an email

  • They open your email - Score is now 52
  • Click on the email - Score is now 62
  • Views your Contact Us Page - Score is now 90
